Staples Center To Host 2018 NBA All-Star Game

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Staples Center will host the 2018 NBA All-Star Game festivities, the NBA announced Tuesday.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver made the announcement Tuesday afternoon, alongside local officials.

The Clippers and Lakers will share hosting duties.

On Monday, the NBA, City of Los Angeles, AEG and Staples Center issued a press release hinting that a "major announcement" was coming Tuesday.

Shortly after, speculation grew that L.A. would host the 2018 NBA All-Star Weekend.

Staples Center, which opened in 1999, previously hosted the festivities in 2011 and 2004.

Next year's NBA All-Star Game will be in Charlotte, NC.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Kings and Staples Center will host the 2017 NHL All-Star game.
