Stanton Leads Marlins Past Dodgers In Mattingly's Return

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Giancarlo Stanton homered, doubled and drove in two runs to lead the Marlins past the Dodgers 3-2 on Monday night in Miami manager Don Mattingly's return to Los Angeles.

Mattingly, who managed the Dodgers from 2011-15, received a mix of boos and cheers before the start of his first game against his former club.

Stanton ensured a winning return for him, blasting a solo home run to open the scoring in the fourth inning and a tying RBI double in the fifth. Derek Dietrich put the Marlins ahead for good with an RBI triple in the sixth.

Yasiel Puig and Trayce Thompson hit solo homers in the fourth inning for the Dodgers.

Miami's Wei-Yin Chen (1-1) pitched into the seventh inning for his first win with the Marlins while Dodgers rookie Ross Stripling (0-1) took the loss in his first career decision.
