1 Person Stabbed In Santa Ana Parking Lot, Suspect In Custody

SANTA ANA (CBSLA) — A man was in serious condition following a stabbing in an Auto Zone parking lot in Santa Ana Wednesday afternoon.

A knife was recovered at the scene of the stabbing.

Orange County Fire Authority responded to the Auto Zone store located at 430 W. Seventeenth Street in Santa Ana at 1:49 p.m. to reports of a stabbing in a parking lot.

According to Santa Ana police, a man began flashing a weapon and stabbed a man in the Auto Zone parking lot.⁦

The victim, who was not immediately identified, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of multiple stab wounds, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

The suspect was found near the scene of the stabbing, with the knife still on him, and surrendered without incident, the Bertagna said. The suspect was seen being strapped to a stretcher in handcuffs.

"He appeared to be under the influence or had mental health issues or both," Bertagna said.
