Multiple people injured during stabbing, attempted robbery in Cypress Park

Multiple people were injured during a stabbing and attempted robbery in Cypress Park Friday morning.

Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department received calls around 5:22 a.m. about a stabbing near the 600 block of Avenue 28.

When police arrived at the scene, they found one individual suffering from stab wounds. That person was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Police said a man was attempting to steal a bug zapper from a home when a resident noticed him and began yelling.

The man fled the scene, but the resident was able to chase him down and catch him with the help of another individual. During a scuffle, the man took out a knife and stabbed one of the residents multiple times.

The man was taken into custody and taken to the hospital for his injuries. The other resident suffered minor injuries but did not require medical attention.
