Overturned Truck Spills 50-75 Gallons Of Clay Acid On State Highway 126 In Santa Clarita

SANTA CLARITA (CBSLA.com) — An overturned big rig leaked clay acid onto State Highway 126 in Santa Clarita on Tuesday.

The accident took place at 8:41 a.m. on the westbound side of the highway near Interstate 5, the California Highway Patrol said.

Evacuations were ordered for nearby businesses after 50 to 75 gallons of the liquid spilled out of the truck.

No storm drains have been affected, Los Angeles County fire officials said.

Highway 126 was closed between Commerce Center Drive and Vanderbilt Way.

Around 4:30 p.m., the CHP said the eastbound 126 and the "Old Road" had reopened, but the westbound side was still closed.
