'Sports Stadium' Lets Facebook Fans Talk Trash, Celebrate

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Facebook is unveiling a new product built for sports fans to interact with one another and experts during games.

Developers say Facebook Sports Stadium will allow the social network's 650 million sports fans to "celebrate, commiserate, and talk trash with their friends and other fans."

Users will be able to access real-time content related to the big game, including posts and comments from friends on play-by-play action, live scores and stats, and expert analysis from teams, leagues and reporters, according to Facebook product manager Steve Kafka.

The Sports Stadium experience will make its debut this month as the NFL heads deep into its postseason play. The product will soon support other international sports like basketball and soccer, Kafka said.

"Sports is a global interest that connects people around the world," said Kafka. "This product makes connecting over sports more fun and engaging, and we will continue listening to feedback to make it even better."

Users will initially be able to access Facebook Sports Stadium by searching for the game, with additional ways to access the experience expected to debut in coming weeks.
