Spirit Awakening Foundation Celebrates Annual Theatrical Event!

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — The Spirit Awakening Foundation in celebrating their annual theatrical event this weekend!

The Spirit Awakening Foundation is a not-for-profit arts organization created by Akuyoe Graham. After performing her critically acclaimed one-woman play, Akuyoe created the foundation in the wake of gang violence at John Muir High School

The foundation offers contemplative writing programs designed to help students discover their inner strengths, their unique talents and gifts and begin a path to success. It is designed to help students become their own best friend.

The foundation also has retreats to Esalen Institute in Big Sur, cultural and educational trips to Ghana and offers scholarships, peer-to-peer mentors, counseling, job referrals and so much more!

Saturday afternoon's event at USC features formerly detained youth along with guest artists Bobby Brown, Yasmin Frazier, Monique Coleman, Rev. Michael Beckwith and his wife Rickie Byars Beckwith.
