'Special Needs Network' To Host Several Events For Autism Awareness Month

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) – Areva Martin, founder of the Special Needs Network, visited KCAL9 on World Autism Day to talk about Autism Awareness Month.

Autism affects roughly one in every 68 children, according to the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention.

Martin discussed several of the events the Special Needs Network is planning for April.

On April 11-12, SNN will host Tools for Transformation, a free conference for parents, professionals and businesses interested in critical issues that relate to autism, ADHD, early childhood education, and developmental and learning disabilities.

The conference features 16 workshops, breakfast and lunch, free childcare for guests, giveaways and more.

The event is free to the public and will feature some of the nation's leading experts in the fields of medicine, education, health care, advocacy, and community and civic engagement.
