Southern California Braces For Triple-Digit Temperatures
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A heat wave that's building in Southern California is bringing dry conditions and an increased wildfire risk.
The National Weather Service says a high pressure system across greater Los Angeles will be accompanied Thursday by temperatures in the high 80s along the coast and topping 100 inland.
It will be hotter still Friday and Saturday, with triple digits the norm in many areas. Heat warnings and advisories will be in effect for much of the region. Valley neighborhoods could see temperatures as high as 108.
A fire weather watch is set for Friday in Los Angeles County mountains and the Angeles National Forest due to anticipated gusty winds and low humidity.
A cooling trend is predicted to start Sunday.
