Man Killed While Watching Fireworks At South LA Home; 3 Hospitalized

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Police Tuesday searched for a gunman who opened fire on four people in South Los Angeles.

Officers were sent shortly before 1 a.m. to a home located in the 1150 block of East 57th Street for report of shots fired, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Upon their arrival, authorities located four people suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Paramedics transported the victims to hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

Hospital officials pronounced one of the men dead upon his arrival. He was later identified as 40-year-old Demetrius Grant.

An update on the conditions of the other victims remains unclear at this time.

A preliminary investigation revealed the gunman possibly traveled in an SUV and opened fire on the victims with a handgun.

Detectives have not yet provided a description of the gunman.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
