Some Oscar Nominees Just Days Away From Receiving Most Expensive Unofficial Swag Bag

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — During Sunday's Academy Awards, only a handful of stars will take home an Oscar, but nominees in acting and directing categories will walk away with the most expensive gift bag ever!

The lavish gift bags offered independently through Distinctive Assets include 50 opulent items.

Among them, a lifetime supply of skin cream, services, and trips, including 10 days in Israel. The total value of the gift bag is $200,000!

Lash Fary of Distinctive Assets has assembled the presents for 14 years.

"To have these celebrities wearing your jewelry or wearing your T-shirt or showing up at your resort... it's worth far more than any price of product that they're giving away," he said.

But this year, the Academy filed a lawsuit over the big bundle of goodies, claiming Fary's company used the Oscar name to promote the bag even though it is not affiliated.

In a statement, the Academy says:

"All reports of an 'official Oscar gift bag' are untrue."

The gift bag, which will also be offered to Oscar host Chris Rock, is considered a business gift, which means recipients will be taxed.
