Some Banks Open, Government Offices Closed For Columbus Day

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — You may already know it's Columbus Day in the Southland and across the U.S., but most residents may not know what's open and what's closed.

All Los Angeles city, county and federal offices are closed Monday, along with libraries and courtrooms. California state offices, such as the Department of Motor Vehicles, are open.

The U.S. Postal Service will not deliver mail today, and all local post offices will be closed.

Schools across Los Angeles Unified School District are open, in addition to Los Angeles city colleges and California State University campuses.

Metro buses and subway services and Metrolink trains are all running on a regular schedule.

Trash pickup will maintain a regular schedule in the cities of Los Angeles, Burbank, and Glendale.

Several local banks are observing the Columbus Day holiday, including Bank of America, while others such as Wells Fargo are closed.

Financial markets are open, while the bond market is closed.
