Some Airlines Offering Deals For Travelers With Children

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Flying with children can be stressful but there are some airlines that are offering deals for families.

Air Tahiti Nui, for one, lets kids fly free from LAX to the Polynesian island, whose calm waters and marine life make it a perfect destination for families.

The cutoff age is 15 and each child must be accompanied by a paying adult. The only fee is for taxes which comes out to about $65 per person.

Etihad Airways is going a different route. The Middle Easter airline, which has flights leaving out of LAX, puts nannies in the clouds, even in coach. They've trained hundreds of flight attendants in child psychology and childcare to help keep the little ones amused and parents relaxed during long flights.

Travel expert Dave Fleming is known as "The Miles Guy."

And his 2-year-old son could be "The Miles Toddler" given how often he accompanies Fleming on trips.

Fleming said international carriers are the friendliest in the skies.

"El Al, the Israeli airline, actually brought clowns on flights to entertain the kids during long flights," Fleming said.

Lufthansa and Emirates offer bulkhead seating and bassinets for infants at no charge.

British carrier Thomson Air said it's introduction booths on flights so families can sit across from each other.

Of course, there are no guarantees that any measure will keep children at ease during long flights but parents say it's reassuring to know some airlines aren't scared off by children or tantrums.
