SoCal Restaurants Make Yelp's List Of Hottest Places To Eat Nationwide

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Dozens of California restaurants are among the hottest places to eat this year.

At least, according to Yelp, which recently released a list of the top 100 places to eat in the nation.

Copper Top BBQ on North Main Street in Big Pine made the No. 1 spot, while TKB Bakery & Deli on Golf Center Parkway in Indio made fourth place.

Across Southern California, more than a dozen restaurants were recognized, including Saffron & Rose Ice Cream in Westwood (No. 19), and Newport Beach's Sessions West Coast Deli (No. 31).

And for a second consecutive year, Porto's Bakery in Burbank made the list. This time, the eatery that dishes plantain chips and potato balls, came in at 40th.

Yelp says its team compiled the list based on the "most popular and well-reviewed" restaurants in 2014.

Last year, Yelp also released a list that reportedly took into account nearly a decade's worth of reviews.

This year, the website says, recent reviews by Yelpers were given more weight.
