Small Quakes Hit Santa Clarita Area

SANTA CLARITA (CBSLA.com) — A series of small earthquakes hit the Santa Clarita area just before 8 a.m. Saturday, according to the US Geological Survey.

The largest of the quakes was initially reported as a magnitude 3.1 at 7:54 a.m., according to automated seismographs, with several other smaller temblors, including one of magnitude 2.7, also taking place. Another 2.0 aftershock was reported at 10:14 a,m,

The USGS received reports of weak shaking from persons in the northern half of the San Fernando Valley as well as Santa Clarita, and as far away as Westlake Village, Glendale and the Antelope Valley.
