Seaplane Lands Next To Hermosa Beach Pier For Coffee Break
HERMOSA BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a seaplane landed in the water next to Hermosa Beach Pier, drawing emergency response by lifeguards, police and fire, but the aircraft took off again on its own after the two people on board stopped to have coffee.
The seaplane's landing was initially reported as a plane crash at about 9:31 a.m. Monday in the water next to the pier, Hermosa Beach city officials said.

According to the City of Hermosa Beach, the pilot and a passenger crawled out on the wing and had coffee, then took off again.

City officials say an investigation is underway as to the identity of the pilot and any violations.
