Brush Fire Briefly Threatens Homes In Pacific Palisades
PACIFIC PALISADES (AP/CBSLA.com) — Firefighters have gained a handle on a five-acre brush fire that burned near homes in Pacific Palisades.
Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey says the fire was reported about 12:30 p.m. Sunday in the 17100 block of Avenida de Santa Ynez.
As of 3 p.m., it was reported to be under control with firefighters focusing in on one spot.
No formal evacuations were issued although fire officials said the fire had burned near homes.
Humphrey told KNX 1070 that nearly 100 firefighters both on the ground and in the air were dispatched to the blaze shortly after it erupted. Humphrey also said it had threatened a row of condominiums at the top of the hill.
No injuries were reported, and no structures were damaged.
Humphrey could not immediately say how many homes were threatened by the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
