Sketch Shows What Woman Missing For 25 Years Might Look Like Today

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — For the past 25 years, Benjamin Medina as been searching for his younger sister, Maria.

He and his family have never given up looking for her or relinquished the hope that she'd turn up after disappearing March 4, 1989, when she was 19.

Through a translator, Benjamin told CBS2/KCAL9 reporter Andrea Fujii that it was like Maria had vanished. No one knew where she was.

His family worked tirelessly handing out fliers in their neighborhood, where the two siblings grew up, near Sixth and Los Angeles streets in Downtown L.A.

Benjamin calls the LAPD for updates every week.

The LAPD has now released a picture, with the help of age-progression rendering and a sketch artist, of what Maria might look like today at 44.

Her brother said it's what he imagined she'd look like.

Benjamin said he hopes someone will recognize her or at least provide information that will provide the family some closure as to what happened.

Until then, he says, he'll keep searching.
