Skateboarder, 20, Fatally Struck By Dump Truck In Angeles National Forest Identified

GLENDORA (CBSLA.com)  — The 20-year-old skateboarder killed Friday morning after being struck by a dump truck has been identified.

Los Angeles County Coroner's Office Saturday identified the deceased as Eric Pederson of Clayton.

Pederson, along with two other skateboarders and a van driver were "hill bombing" -- a daredevil practice of skateboarding on curvy, winding roads.

The accident took place on Glendora Mountain Road near East Fork Road shortly after 10 a.m. Friday, said county fire Inspector Randall Wright.

Pederson was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was going between 20-30 mph at the time of the collision.

Pederson was wearing safety gear but he failed to remain in his lane and struck the undercarriage of the dump truck, which then ran over him, CHP Officer Rodrigo Jimenez said.

On the KCAL9 News at 10 p.m. on Friday, Tom Wait reported that officials did not plan to charge Pederson's other friends.
