Sinkhole Spews Water Onto Streets In Westmont Area

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 12-inch water main ruptured Wednesday in the Westmont area of Los Angeles, gushing water onto local streets and creating a large sinkhole.

The 25-foot geyser was reported just after 10 a.m. at Western Avenue south of Century Boulevard.

Crews shut off the flow of water, and worked to repair the main built in 1948 and the street.

Officials closed Western Avenue between Century Boulevard and 103rd Street as a precaution.
