Silverado Man Suspected Of Sexual Assault Arrested In Tustin

TUSTIN (CBSLA.com) — A 22-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Tustin was in custody on Wednesday.

According to the Tustin Police Department, Samuel Ostgaard, of Silverado Canyon, turned himself into authorities around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

He allegedly attacked a woman about 8:45 p.m. on Nov. 24, near Township Drive and Rawlings Way, Tustin police Lt. Robert Wright said.

Ostgaard and the woman had arranged to get together that night, but it's unclear if they had any sort of prior relationship, Wright said.

Officials explained they met each other through a social media website.

"We don't know how or what mechanism they used to arrange this meeting. We just know that it was arranged for the victim and suspect to meet," Wright told KCAL9's Stacey Butler.

The assault happened in some bushes near the entrance to the Tustin Ranch III gated estate in the 12300 block of Township Drive, Tustin police Sgt. Del Pickney said.

Detectives say the woman ran home and told a family member, who immediately contacted police. They say she was taken to the hospital.

Anyone with information about Ostgaard or the attack can call detectives at (714) 573-3248.
