Signal Hill Man Sentenced To Life In Prison For 2 Murders

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A Signal Hill man has been sentenced to serve life in state prison without the possibility after being convicted of killing two men over a span more than a decade, authorities said Friday.

On July 2, 49-year-old Jeffrey Means was found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of 67-year-old Ronald Henry, and second-degree murder for the death of Hal Dean Shaw, 48.

The Los Angeles District Attorney's office said in a written statement that jurors found true special circumstance allegations of multiple murders. They also determined that Means used a jack stand and knife to carry out the killings.

The statement said Shaw was killed in his home in 1996 while Henry was found stabbed in the neck 11 years later.

Means was interviewed following Henry's death and was subsequently charged.

The statement said, "In both murders, Means was friends with the victims and the last person to be seen with them before they died."

Authorities also said Means was linked to the crimes through DNA evidence.
