Suspect Arrested After Report Of Shots Fired In Garden Grove Neighborhood

GARDEN GROVE (CBSLA.com/AP) — Authorities in Orange County have arrested a man suspected of firing shots in the air, triggering modified lockdowns of five Garden Grove schools

Police received a call around 8:40 a.m. about someone firing two rounds into the air "who was seen walking away with a shotgun" along the 8500 block of Blanche Avenue east of Dale Street, according to the Garden Grove Police Department.

The suspect was taken into custody shortly after 11 a.m., police said.

Garden Grove Unified School District spokeswoman Natalie Grace says the incident did not occur on a school campus and there is no known threat to students.

Several schools in the area were told to shelter-in-place "out of an abundance of caution": Alamitos, Hare, Lawrence, Rancho and
Zeyen.

The lockdown was lifted by 10:15 a.m.
