Man shot by police near Pico and Sawtelle Boulevards dies

Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department on Thursday responded to a report of man armed with a knife in the area of Pico and Sawtelle Boulevards, under the 405 Freeway. 

When an officer arrived, at around 5 p.m., and exited his vehicle, authorities said the still-armed suspect charged the officer, resulting in the officer shooting him. 

The suspect was transported to the hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead, according to LAPD. 

The officer was said to have sustained an injury from fall during the incident. Police also said that the knife used in the attack was found at the scene.
