Shooting Death Investigation Underway In Lakewood

LAKEWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Thursday investigated the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man in Lakewood.

Around 11:14 p.m. on Wednesday, deputies were sent to the 11500 block of Carson Street for report of a gunshot victim.

Upon their arrival, authorities located an adult man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound while he sat in the driver's seat of his vehicle.

Paramedics pronounced him at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

Authorities said a second adult man sustained an unknown injury, and was transported to a hospital for treatment. He has since been released.

Deputies said four people were detained at the scene for questioning, and were then transported to the Lakewood Station to be interviewed by homicide detectives.

A 56-year-old Hispanic man who lives in Lakewood has been identified as the shooter. No arrests have been made at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
