Suspect Shot After Allegedly Punching Jail Employee, Taking Her Into Cell At Lakewood Sheriff's Station

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA) — Homicide investigators were dispatched to the Lakewood station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. where a shooting occurred Friday.

The deputy-involved shooting happened around 12:50 p.m. at the station located at 5130 Clark Ave.

According to the LASD, a female jailer was fingerprinting a suspect suspected of stealing a car, when he punched her and took her stun gun. He then took her into a jail cell and locked himself inside with her. She managed to activate a panic button alerting deputies.

The man was subsequently shot in the chest and arm. The deputy suffered a broken nose. Both were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive.
