Crews Respond To Assisted Living Facility In San Gabriel After Sewage Line Break

SAN GABRIEL (CBSLA.com) — Authorities have responded to an assisted living facility in San Gabriel following a break in a sewage line.

The incident at the Vista Cove Care Center unfolded about 7:15 p.m. Friday, and prompted a dozens of ambulances to respond to the scene.

No one as of 11 p.m. had been evacuated from the center as officials were trying to determine the severity of the break.

Between 30 to 80 people could be affected as a result of the situation, but no injuries have been reported.

If necessary, the patients would be moved to other assisted living facilities.

"Right now, we're kind of in a holding pattern to determine whether or not the sewer system is going to be restored. If that's the case, we're good. If not, we're going to have a pretty significant event," said one firefighter.
