Seth Rogen, Lauren Miller's 'Hilarity For Charity' Raising Awareness Of Alzheimer's
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A humorous event was held Friday evening to raise awareness about a serious topic: Alzheimer's disease.
The third annual "Hilarity for Charity" event kicked off at the Hollywood Palladium with an '80s prom theme.
Actors Seth Rogen and his wife Lauren Miller started the event benefiting the Alzheimer's Association as the disease has directly affected their family.
Miller told KCAL9's Suzanne Marques that both her grandparents were diagnosed with the disease, as well as her mother at the age of 55.
"Unfortunately, Alzheimer's has touched my life for as long as I can remember," Miller said. "It's a really cruel, terrible disease. There's the financial burden. There's the emotional burden. It's really, really sad, but we created tonight to laugh in the face of that sadness."
And because Alzheimer's is affecting people at a younger age, Rogen and Miller want to raise awareness among the millennial generation.
"It's a disease that everybody considers is an old-person's disease. But when you consider how much it affects the entire family because of the level of care-giving, it's really a disease that affects everyone," Miller said.
"It's not something we can just wait to worry about until we're older," she added.
