Senior Stowaway Sentenced To 177 Days In Jail Already Out
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — That was quick.
Marilyn Hartman, the senior stowaway sentenced Wednesday to 177 days in the Los Angeles County Jail, has already been released.
The LA County Sheriff's Department confirms she was released just after 6 p.m. Saturday.
Jail overcrowding was cited for the reason for the early release.
Before she was sentenced, Superior Court Judge Alan Rubin gave Hartman, 62, a tongue-lashing.
"Recently, we've had shootings here, somebody killed here, at LAX. There have been in the past bombing attempts, past terrorist bombing attempts," Rubin said. "I want, and I intend, to have police resources to be used in those kinds of matters. Not this."
The stowaway originally arrived at LAX from San Jose.
