Security Ramped Up For Fourth Of July Block Party In Downtown LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities have dispatched additional security to downtown Los Angeles to oversee the Fourth of July festivities.

Law enforcement, including the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, stressed there were no known, specific threats against the Southland but have increased security at Grand Park as a precaution.

Organizers expect an upwards of 25,000 revelers for the block party, which will feature food, entertainment, and a fireworks display.

"We have plenty of security there. We have dozens of personnel, security officers, deputies, patrol checkpoints," said Lt. John Stanley of the LASD.

Authorities say they have deployed 500 law enforcement personnel in and around the park to ensure that the event is safe.
