Distressed Hiker Rescued In Horsethief Canyon Area

TRABUCO CANYON (CBSLA.com) — Fire crews rescued a hiker lost in the rugged terrain of the Horsethief and Trabuco Canyon area Monday.

Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi tells City News Service the hiker called for help around 4:40 p.m. Monday.

An Orange County Sheriff's helicopter crew launched a search for the distressed hiker but was having trouble due to the rugged terrain, according to Capt. Concialdi.

The hiker was located near Yaeger Mesa Trail in Horsethief Canyon before dark.

A specially trained firefighter was lowered from the helicopter and successfully completed the rescue mission around 5:40 p.m.

The hiker was not injured.
