Search underway for driver of minivan that severely injured pedestrian in San Pedro

Police are searching for the driver of a minivan that crashed into a pedestrian in San Pedro in late-January and fled without stopping to help. 

The crash, which happened on Jan. 29 at around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Pacific Avenue and O'Farrell Street, left a 24-year-old man with severe injuries, according to a release from the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police say the driver of the minivan was speeding northbound on Pacific Avenue when they struck the victim, who was crossing the street. Instead of stopping to help, they fled from the scene. 

The victim remains hospitalized with the severe injuries suffered in the crash.
