School Bus Theft Quickly Ends With Crash In Riverside County

THERMAL (CBSLA.com/AP) — The Riverside County Sheriff's Department says an attempt to steal a school bus quickly ended with a crash in Thermal.

Officers responded shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday to Coachella Valley High School and found that a bus stolen from a fenced parking lot had crashed into a set of classroom trailers.

Alcohol was determined to be a factor in the collision.

Joe Barragan Quevedo Jr., 28, of La Quinta was hospitalized for treatment of crash injuries. The Sheriff's Department says he's under investigation for vehicle theft, driving under the influence and vandalism.
