Santa Clarita Businesses Evacuated After Suspicious Device Found At Army Surplus Store

SANTA CLARITA (CBSLA.com) — The bomb squad Wednesday was dispatched to Santa Clarita to diffuse a suspicious device.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, someone brought what experts believed to be a 'cluster bomb' to the Commando Military Surplus store at 24319 Main Street shortly after 1 p.m.

Nearby residents and businesses were evacuated while bomb experts worked to secure the area.

The bomb squad examined the explosive and determined it was inert and not dangerous; so it did not need to be detonated, deputies said.
