Masai Giraffe Born At Santa Barbara Zoo Over Easter Weekend

SANTA BARBARA (CBSLA.com) — The Santa Barbara Zoo has a new big baby.

On Monday, zoo officials announced that a male Masai giraffe was born over Easter weekend.

According to the zoo's animal care team, the giraffe stands 6-foot-6 tall and weighs 191 pounds.

The calf's 8-year-old mother named Audrey gave birth just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the zoo's barn. This marks the fourth birth for Audrey at the zoo.

The calf will remain unnamed until further notice.
