Santa Ana Pursuit Suspect Faces Attempted Murder Charges After Firing Weapon

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — The suspect in a dramatic pursuit through Santa Ana on Saturday night faces serious charges, according to police.

Jimmy Truong, 28, is accused of firing several shots out the window of his vehicle while being pursued by authorities.

The pursuit began after 7:30 on Saturday night after police attempted to pull Truong over for a traffic violation.

"He was going really slow," witness Alicia Bermudez said. "Even though the spike strip went off, he was like 'whatever', and he was on the phone."

Witnesses say there were plenty of children outside on the street as the pursuit went by.

"I actually scared because they were going by so fast, and I wasn't sure if they were going to shoot," witness Vanessa Marenco said. "I had my son in the car with me and we had just gotten home."

Attempted murder of a police officer is one of several charges Truong faces.
