San Jacinto Man, 25, Charged With Repeated Child Abuse Involving Son, 6

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) —  Authorities said a 25-year-old San Jacinto man is behind bars Thursday for allegedly abusing his 6-year-old son for months.

Dean Kaipo Pratt pleaded not guilty Thursday and remains in custody in lieu of $70,000 bail, jail records show.

Pratt and the child's mother, Natasha Lynn Gustin, also 25, were booked Tuesday, the same day sheriff's officials received a report of suspected child abuse, sheriff's Sgt. Robert Duckett said.

Gustin was not charged in the abuse case but remained in custody at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on suspicion of hit-and-run with property damage, among other charges, according to jail records.

Pratt is scheduled to return to court for a felony settlement conference on Jan. 6.
