Deadly Shooting Investigation Underway In San Bernardino

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — Police Thursday investigated the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of an adult woman in San Bernardino.

Officers were sent shortly before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday to the 1300 block of East Date Street near North Fairfax Drive for report of a shooting, according to the San Bernardino Police Department.

Upon their arrival, authorities located an African American woman sitting in the drivers seat of a vehicle, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene. She was later identified as Jaemiah Trammel.

A preliminary investigation revealed Trammel crashed her car into a fence. It remains unclear if the crash took place before or after she was struck by gunfire.

According to police, the crowd at the crime scene was hostile in nature, but no officers sustained any injuries.

No suspect description has been provided at this time.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
