Forward Progress Stopped On Rosemead Fire Burning In Whittier Narrows Area
WHITTIER (CBSLA) — Crews were able to stop the forward progress of brush fire burning Friday in a wash in the Whittier Narrows area.
The Rosemead Fire erupted around 1:10 p.m. near Rosemead Boulevard and Gallatin Road, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
By 6 p.m., fire crews had stopped the forward progress of the fire that burned a total of 52 acres. Mop-up operations were commencing and were expected to extend through the night, L.A. County Fire said.

Rosemead Blvd. was initially closed between San Gabriel Blvd. and Gallatin Rd. due to the fire.
Later in the afternoon, Rosemead Blvd. was closed between Durfee Ave. and Beverly Blvd, Lincoln Ave. was closed between San Gabriel Blvd. and Ave. De La Merced and San Gabriel Blvd. was closed between Santa Anita Ave. and Lincoln Ave.
Los Angeles County and Montebello fire departments were on the scene working to control the flames.
No structures were immediately threatened.
