PCH Reopens In Dana Point Following Rockslide

DANA POINT (CBSLA.com) — Northbound and southbound lanes of Pacific Coast Highway were shut down for several hours Friday morning due to a rockslide, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident was reported around 4:25 a.m. near the intersection of Dana Point Harbor Drive and PCH.

No injuries were reported but several vehicles were damaged after they crashed into the guardrail trying to avoid the rocks.

"I can't imagine if you're driving your vehicle down here at night and all of a sudden you see these boulders in the middle of the road," director of public works Brad Fowler said. "We have the K-rail down here to generally protect most of the boulders that come down from coming across the roadway."
