Riverside Woman's Possible Suicide Deemed Suspicious

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) —  Authorities responding to a call about a possible suicide at an apartment in Riverside continue to investigate the death calling it suspicious.

Police received a call about 8:20 a.m. Saturday about the possible suicide in the 1200 block of Massachusetts Avenue.

Officers arrived on scene and found a woman in her late 50s dead in her bedroom from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

Members of the Riverside Fire Department also responded and pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

Detectives from the Robbery/Homicide Unit along with Evidence Technicians from the Forensic Unit responded to the scene to join the investigation.

The victim's identity has not been released pending notification of her next of kin.

At this time, the investigation is on-going. Officials said the cause of death is still to be determined.
