Riverside Man Suspected Of Murdering Teenager In Church Parking Lot

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a man in Riverside, police said Friday.

Thomas Ryan Scott, of Riverside, was arrested taken into custody Thursday in connection with the shooting death of a 17-year-old man, according to police.

Around 1 a.m. on Aug. 28, officers responded to the 5600 block of Arlington Avenue for report of a shooting that occurred in the parking lot of the Central Community Church.

Upon their arrival, police located the teenager suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital where he later died.

A preliminary investigation revealed an altercation occurred between Scott and the victim.

At some point, Scott pulled out a handgun and allegedly shot him before fleeing from the scene, police said.

Detectives believe there may be additional witnesses to this crime.
