Riverside County Health Officials Protect Against West Nile Virus In 'Fight The Bite' Program

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — The Riverside County Vector Program is scheduled to fog in the areas around the Nuevo Fire Station and Mystic Field for mosquitoes on Friday.

Around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, health officials went door-to-door in the Lakeview and Nuevo area as part of the "Fight the Bite" program to teach residents how to protect against mosquitoes.

Authorities explained mosquitoes can carry the West Nile virus.

The program was proposed after three batches of mosquitoes tested positive for the virus since June 18, health officials said.
