Riverside Co. Sheriff's Sergeant Arrested On Domestic Battery Charges

TEMECULA (CBSLA.com) — A Riverside County Sheriff's Department sergeant is free on $50,000 bail following his arrest for domestic battery, assault and kidnapping, officials said Wednesday.

Sgt. Terry Jones, who has been with the RVSD since 1998, was arrested on October 5.

An unidentified woman told authorities she was with Jones and three other women during the early morning hours of October 4 when she was assaulted.

The group had been drinking in Old Town Temecula and when the bar closed for the night, the group went to Jones' apartment.

"A short time later, Jones allegedly attacked and assaulted a female member of the group at his residence in Temecula," Sgt. Mike Manning said.

Jones, 44, was arrested at his home and booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside.

"His peace officer powers have been suspended and he was placed on paid administrative leave," Sgt Manning said.

He will return to court on Dec. 3.
