Riderless Horse Struck And Killed By Vehicle In Sylmar

SYLMAR (CBSLA.com)    —  Authorities said a riderless horse was fatally struck by a vehicle in Sylmar Saturday evening.

The accident occurred on an off-ramp of the Foothill (210) Freeway.

The accident was reported at 5:49 p.m. on the Polk Street off-ramp from the eastbound Foothill Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The horse had a saddle but no rider. The horse was walking up the off-ramp when it was struck, the CHP said.

The horse died at the scene, according to a witness.

The Polk off-ramp from the eastbound Foothill Freeway was shut down, the CHP said.
