7 Cats Killed, Others Rescued In Northridge House Fire

NORTHRIDGE (CBSLA.com) — Two dogs and two cats were rescued from a house fire in Northridge that killed seven other felines and displaced five people Tuesday.

Los Angeles City Fire Department personnel were dispatched to a residence in the 17000 block of West Chase Street after flames erupted at approximately 2:45 p.m.

Fire Department spokesperson Katherine Main said 34 firefighters knocked down the fire in 21 minutes.

Main tells City News Service no one was in the house when the fire started.

Those displaced were being aided by the Red Cross.

A neighbor was evaluated at the scene for smoke exposure. No human injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
