Reseda Homeowner Scares Off Intruder With Gunshot

RESEDA (CBSLA.com) — A home invader late on Friday night in Reseda appeared to have picked the wrong house.

A Reseda homeowner on the 6600 block of Silvia Avenue awoke around midnight to hear the intruder enter through the backdoor of his home. He quickly reached for his handgun.

The homeowner went down to the kitchen, where he was just three feet away from the homeowner at one point, the LAPD said. The homeowner fired one or two shots, which scared the intruder away.

It was not immediately known whether the intruder was shot.

Police responded to the man's neighborhood shortly after 12 a.m. and searched for the suspect until about 2:45 a.m., though they had not found the suspect as of Saturday morning.

The suspect was described as a man in his 30s.

Anyone with information on the attempted home invasion was being encouraged to contact the LAPD.
