Shots Reportedly Fired Near CSUN Campus

NORTHRIDGE (CBSLA.com) — An investigation was underway Thursday after shots were fired near Cal State Northridge, abut no victims nor suspects were found.

Police were investigating reports of gunfire around 1:10 p.m. near Lindley Avenue and Kinzie Street near a student housing complex, according to an LAPD spokesperson.

Two suspects were reported to have fled the area near University Park Apartments, school officials said. They were described as black males, one wearing a baseball cap and the other wearing white shirt, white pants and white shoes.

Five African-American males - one wearing a head rag - were seen on scene in handcuffs as police officers questioned them individually, KNX 1070's Pete Demetriou reported.

Unspecified evidence of a shooting was found, Los Angeles police Officer Jane Kim said.

Students reportedly received calls from the emergency notification system and were advised to avoid the area immediately surrounding campus. The CSUN campus was not placed on lockdown.

There were no reports of any injuries. The LAPD and campus police are investigating.
