Man In Armed West Covina Standoff Found Dead In Home

WEST COVINA (CBSLA.com) — A man involved in SWAT team standoff was found dead Thursday in a San Gabriel Valley residence.

A report of shots fired came into authorities just before 3 a.m. in the 1900 block of East Cortez Street in West Covina.

According to police, multiple shots were fired from inside a home by a man who then barricaded himself inside.

Officers responded to the scene immediately and evacuated nearby homes.

A reverse 911 call was also sent out to other residences in the neighborhood, alerting them of the situation.

A single gunshot was heard around 3:20 a.m. and officers have not been able to contact the suspect since, police said.

Police made entry into the home around 10 a.m. and found the unidentified man dead inside.
