Report Of Screams At Apartment Leads To Yucaipa Runaway In South LA

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Police say officers responding to reports of screams at a South Los Angeles apartment building found an injured teenage runaway from San Bernardino County.

Officer Ricardo Hernandez said Tuesday the teen girl is hospitalized in stable condition. Details of her injuries or how she sustained them are not immediately available.

"This is an ongoing investigation, and nothing has been confirmed," Los Angeles police Officer Ricardo Hernandez said. "We have determined that she is a runaway from Yucaipa."

Hernandez says police have not made any arrests or named any suspects. The girl is talking to investigators.

Hernandez says neighbors reported the screams early Tuesday.

Detectives determined the girl ran away from her home in Yucaipa and are looking into how she ended up 80 miles away in Los Angeles.
